  • 1988 - 1998 Member of the General Council of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB)
  • 1995 - 1998 President of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank, Vienna
  • June 1995 - present Austria's Governor to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) OeNB representative in the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) Governors' Meeting  
  • June 1998 - present Member of both the Governing Council and the General Council of the European Central Bank (ECB)
